Yamamoto Paper Texture Series RO-BIKI Plain Notebook [Gin-nezu]

The cover is waxed paper, embossed, in gin-nezu — a restrained silvery grey that was fashionable in the Edo period, when subtlety in dress was a way of getting round sumptuary law.

Wax means the cover records what happens to it: it darkens, softens and takes small marks, so a notebook carried for a month looks nothing like one still in stock. Inside, Soliste premium writing paper, smooth enough for pencils, ballpoints, fountain pens and dip pens without feathering. The long slim format suits lists and running notes, and the thread-bound and glued spine opens completely flat.

Trade notes
